The devs behind Polyroll and Clash Force are back with Panic Porcupine: a brand new mashup of Sonic physics with Meat Boy style precision platforming! Panic is now available on the Nintendo Switch, XBox and PlayStation!
I wasn't really sure what to expect w Panic Porcupine, but I gotta say it's a refreshing take on a Sonic-esque style platformer hybrid game that brings some pretty neat mechanics.
Help Panic find the chickabirbs in 50+ stages of topsy-turvy, spike-laced, slime-drenched, buzzsaw-filled deathtraps. You’ll visit Construction Sites, Haunted Canyons, Snowy Peaks and take on the maniacal Dr. Proventriculus in epic boss battles!
4/5 - The controls are good, the physics are familiar, and the level designs are superb. It has all the hallmarks of a pretty great indie platformer...
7.7/10 - If you enjoy the classic Sonic style, and are also a challenge hound who loves things that push you in unexpected ways, this should be a pretty solid choice.
The game combines the physics of the original Sonic games with the trial-and-error approach of "masocore" platformers like the Meat Boy series. These sorts of games are a love-it-or-hate-it proposition, but Panic Porcupine is such a silly parody of Sonic that it might be worth a look for even those who aren't fans of the genre.
This Nintendo Switch game bundle includes all the "hedge-like" games from developer Spicy Gyro Games.
